HobbiesMy favorite outdoor pastime is inline skating, which I took up while I was in college. I can't do any fancy tricks like jumping off ledges and sliding down bannisters, but I have a good time just blading around. My favorite place to blade is Central Park in New York City, but I haven't been there in quite a while. I also like to mountain bike, but I rarely have a chance to go anywhere where there are actually mountains, so I end up just biking along the beach or around town. I like going on long road trips through sparsely populated areas, and sometimes my destinations are a bit weird. I once went on a Search for the Truth to Roswell, New Mexico and Area 51 in Nevada. And another time I went to see the Integratron. Driving through unpopulated areas at night with dark ambient music playing on the stereo sets a nice, eerie, relaxing mood. As evidenced by the size of my CD collection, I'm very passionate about music, and I generally listen to music no matter what I'm doing. I tend to prefer dark electronic music, and most of the stuff I listen to is very obscure. I like action, sci-fi and fantasy movies, and have collected many of my favorite films on DVD. I also like TV shows like The X-Files, The Outer Limits, Stargate SG1, and Lexx, and sometimes an occasional episode of Married with Children. I like to read when time allows; some of my favorite authors include Stephen King, Isaac Asimov, and the very talented but little-known Helen M. Hoover. I also used to do some writing of my own, mainly while I was in high school. I managed to save some of that old material, and have published some of it on the web as an electronic scrapbook. I'm an Adult Fan of Lego and I have a pretty sizeable collection of Lego sets, mainly from the Train, Boat, Town, Model Team, Technic, and Mindstorms themes, as well as a big stockpile of parts which I use to build my own creations. And finally, I like playing video games on my Playstation 3. RPGs and action/adventure games are my thing, I guess because I love exploring virtual worlds. My favorite games happen to be PC games: they are the Ultima Series, which I still play. I think my favorite Ultima games thus far are Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar and Worlds of Ultima 2: Martian Dreams. |
